Incorporated Village Tax Grievances in Nassau County

Nassau County has 64 incorporated villages within its boundaries, some of which assess their properties (assessing units) and some that follow the County’s roll (non-assessing units). These assessments can be challenged. See below for whether your village conducts its own assessment or uses the County’s assessment. The exact deadline in the grievance month is the 3rd Tuesday of that month. The petition deadline is the last day of the petition month.

If you live in an incorporated village and wish to grieve your assessment, you, or your representative, must file your grievance with your local Village Office.  If you would like us to file a Village grievance on your behalf, please make sure to submit your signed authorization form at least three (3) weeks prior to the grievance deadline, so that we can analyze and determine if you have a meritorious case for reduction.
